This week we will begin our unit on money.  It is expected that children come into second grade knowing the value of the coins.  We only have a couple of lessons on counting coins and then we jump right into solving word problems that involve money.  Please provide opportunities for your child to practice counting coins at home. If you have a coin jar or piggy bank have your child take out a random handful and count them for you.  Counting coins to roll is another good activity to do with your child. Have fun counting coins with your child!
